Gypsy Ridge Kennels  General Information

About our dogs:  All of my dogs are a part of my family & live in our home with us. We only breed high quality Champion prospect AKC/CKC/APRI registered dogs that have perfect health, temperament and confirmation suitable for therapy, show or a well behaved loyal companion.

Our Breeding Practice: When possible, natural breeding takes place. (every 48 hours after ovulation-usually 2-3 "sessions") For our first generation "Doodle" lines, we must rely on Artificial Insemination (vaginally only). We DO NOT advocate Surgical Insemination. During surgical insemination, the female is given a short acting intravenous injection of Propofol. An endotracheal tube is placed and she is connected to a gas anesthetic, Sevothane as well as to a surgical monitor. A 2-3 inch incision is made on the abdomen through the skin and underlying muscle. The semen is inseminated though a small hypodermic needle into the uterus. After the seman has been deposited, the incision is sutured. Yes, the result is a higher rate of pregnancy and larger litters however, we personally choose not to use this method of procedure for our girls.

First 8 Weeks  I keep bi-weekly photos & weight updates on my "Available Puppy" page. Dew claw removal, tail docking (Poodles, Scnoodles & Yorkipoos only) and a health check is done at 3 days. Puppies are de-wormed at 2, 3, 4, 6 & 8 weeks per Doctors Foster & Smith schedule. At 6 weeks the puppies will have a second health check to include a report along with the first series of puppy vaccinations. All of our puppies are handled with love and care daily. Between 5-6 weeks, they begin potty training and become more socialized.

Shipping:  If you wish to have your puppy shipped via air, you will have to make the arrangements. We will provide delivery to General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, WI for $50 and that includes a kennel and pad for travel. Please keep in mind that most of my small breeds will be less than 2 pounds by 8 weeks and are handled with love daily. The idea of putting this baby on a plane all alone (or worse-next to other big and scary animals in a cargo pit) is not one I fancy. My daughter and I love road trips so please inquire about delivery. In many cases, the cost between an airline ticket, my gas to bring your puppy to the airport and your gas to pick your puppy up from the airport vs. my travel expenses to deliver, may not make that much of a difference to you but would make a world of difference to your new pup. If we are going to deliver your puppy to you, my quoted travel expenses (and deposit) must be received before we leave. Travel expenses are 100% refundable with in 2 days prior to our departure minus any cancellation fees I may have for hotel, etc.

Hold:  A puppy that is listed as "Hold for (name) until (date)" indicates that someone is interested and has made arrangements with me to either meet the puppy or is sending a deposit.

Reserve:  A puppy is listed as "Reserved" when a deposit has been received.

Sold:  A puppy is listed as "Sold" when he or she has been picked up or has been delivered to his or her new family.

Price:  All prices will be listed on individual ads.

Deposits:  The amount of a deposit is determined by the full price of each puppy and will be listed on individual ads. The balance is due upon pick up or delivery. Deposits are refundable up until your puppy is 4 weeks minus my time and expenses to relist and or any price reduction that may have to be made in order to sell your puppy to someone else by 8 weeks of age. Refunded deposits will be reimbursed after your puppy has been resold. Once a deposit is received, I will contact you directly each week with an update to include a photo, your puppy's weight as well as a video between 5-6 weeks.

New Puppy Handbook (NPH): Once a deposit is received, I will offer to send you my New Puppy Handbook to help prepare you for your new puppy. The NPH has a list of supplies to consider, tips on puppy proofing your home and other valuable information helpful to know before and after your puppy comes home. A copy will be included in your PCP if not sent before hand.

Puppy Care Package (PCP)  A packet that we send home with each puppy includes:

Pedigree:  A copy of your puppies 4 generation pedigree will be included for hybrid pups only. AKC registration papers will be included for purebred pups. By registering your new puppy, you will be able to obtain a pedigree through the American Kennel Club.

Medical Records: Dew claws are removed at 3 days of age (Poodles, Schnoodles & Yorkipoos will have tails docked at this time) and the first set of "puppy shots" are given at 6 weeks. A record of vaccinations will be included in your PCP.

AKC Canine Partners Enrollment form:  Register and have fun with the many AKC events available for you and your hybrid dog. Activities include Agility, AKC Rally and Obedience. Through this program you are welcome to participate or attend as a spectator and meet others who enjoy working with their dog. The enrollment form (hybrid pups only) is included for you in your PCP.

AKC's Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) The CGC program began in 1989 and was designed to reward dogs who present good manners at home and in the community. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. The list along with some helpful training tips is included in your NPH. CGC training and testing is a prerequisite to therapy dog certification.

Health Guarantee: We guarantee that a puppy you purchase from us is clean, healthy and is free from disease or illness of any kind at the time of pick-up or delivery.  We require that you have your puppy examined with in 3 business days from that time. If your puppy should become ill or worse due to a genetic disorder within 1 year old, please contact me immediately.   

Health Report:  Our puppies are examined at 3 days old and at 6 weeks old. At 6 weeks, your puppy will be carefully evaluated for: Evidence of disease or congenital defects, evidence of cardiovascular problems,  clearness and brightness of eyes, the ear canals and the oral cavity for malocclusions (over/under bite) problems. A health report from a licensed veterinarian will be included in your PCP.
